Free! Ditto Library
Introduction
and How To Use Our Ditto Library
The
brain learns best with short
repetitions and small bits of information.
The math
‘ditto library’ contains three (3) pages of five (5) new math problems,
including reversals, for each fact. The
brain also needs to learn the information visually AND auditorally.
Many children have only learned these problems visually or auditorally.
This is why when they SEE 5 X 4 they instantly know the answer; but on the other
hand, when ASKED the same problem… they have no clue.
The information only went in through the visual channel, therefore, can
only be recalled visually.
A cassette tape accompanies the ‘ditto library’.
The tapes have
the same problems only in a different order and with the
answers. Your child will listen to
the tape, find the problem on the page and write in the answer.
This makes it kinesthetic (auditory, visual and write).
There are four (4) rows of problems on each page.
Do two (2) rolls twice a day for 3-4 minutes.
You
can make your own tapes or e-mail canlearn@integrityonline.com

The next day, randomly ask those facts.
If they know 4 out of the 5 move on to the next worksheet and just review
the one problem they missed. If they miss more than one repeat the same
worksheet. Some children learn
faster then others; but, generally most students will master five (5) facts a
day.
A note about motivation.
When
we feel successful at something, we want to do it again. Praise
and encouragement is EVERYTHING!
Make them feel like THEY are better than sliced bread!
If you have a reluctant learner try other methods of motivating, such as
something tangible like earning a small coin, star or token for each problem
they correctly give the next day. Celebrate with a treat, or earn
something they’ve been wanting after they master all of the multiplication
tables (addition/subtraction gaps, etc.).
