Programs For Special Learners

SIMPLIFIED LEARNING PRODUCTS Joyce Herzog  www.joyceherxog.com
Luke's Life List a great Individualize Education Planner for life skills.

Note from Toni: Card/picture for communication, no matter the label, is much like sign language VISUAL. The person spends all their time watching for communication and they don't HEAR the words. They either don't learn to speak or it comes extremely slow. We learn to speak by listening and learning to hear. Improving auditory processing and making sure the brain knows it has the parts is a better approach in my opinion if the child has auditory processing issues and is not deaf. There are several activities we use to accomplish this that are NOT pictures, cards or sign language. Jodee you were exactly right not using the photo cards and just spoke slower, clearly and with less words to give Liz time to THINK and do something with the words she heard. It is important to learn to listen and organize the brain. www.kidscanlearn.net

Homeschooling Children with Special Needs Here are some places to check out for support & information. I don't know of too many moms who, at one time or another, hasn't had the painful experience of stepping on Legos barefoot. You look at these pieces & KNOW there must be more you can do with them, but what? Let's face it, the price of some of these kits rivals the most expensive texts, so we might as well be able to use them for school!
