How to get started

What are Video Evaluations
and Why do we offer them?

By Toni Hager  2007

The families we work with have primarily lived in urban areas we can easily access by plane or bus. Traveling is time consuming and costly and we soon realized we needed to help more children. In 2002 we opened the Children's Academy for Neurodevelopment & Learning in Spokane, Washington. Children and their families come to the center and participate in daily and weekly programs, training and evaluations. Again this has proven to be too small in scope so we have broadened our vision and designed the CAN LEARN VIDEO EVALUATIONS Series.  We are no longer limited by distance. With our unique approach our experts will evaluate your child or children on a home video we teach you how to produce. We then evaluate each child's skills and create a training program specifically designed for each child and family. This has been very effective for the families we work with.

What is the CAN LEARN VIDEO EVALUATIONS Series?

  • Parent initiated history form. This provides our staff the information we need to begin to understand your child.

  • Access to our Video Evaluation website. This section includes interview questions, video training information, worksheets and tests. The video is in two parts. Part one is a parent interview and part two is a child / activity interview. We then review these videos.

  • We send you back

    • a training video explaining and showing proper implementation of all the activities you will be doing with your child. We want to emphasize these tapes are for your training and not for your child to sit and watch.

    • a written INEP (Individualized Neurodevelopment Education Program)

    • a three ring notebook of the child's individual program activities

    • a box of Nuerodevelopment Education Products

    • ongoing email and phone support.

    • books by Liz and Jodee Kulp - The Best I Can Be Living With Fetal Alcohol Syndrome or Effects and Our FAScinating Journey: Keys to Brain Potential Along the Path of Prenatal Brain Injury.

    • Design of curriculum recommendations to help your child. We use proven materials designed to "teach the brain" not only designed for eye appeal. Most of our materials are multi-sensory and can be used with more than one child. Materials are available from the CANLEARN Store of through your own selected retailers.

  • Reevaluations are done every 3 months to modify and adjust the program as your child's brain becomes organized. You must make a new video and we provide you in return a new training video, INEP and supplies.

  • CAN LEARN VIDEO EVALUATION training program is $875.00 yearly first child. half is due with the history form and balance is due with your video. Credit cards are accepted. Discounts for families with more than one child needing evaluation and program.

We help support siblings of special needs children.

PARENTS NOTE: "Programs and activities are recommendations only and are not medical, therapeutic or psychological prescriptions. They are based on the experience of a Neurodevelopmentalist and represent suggestions to the family. Every parent needs to assume the responsibility for their own child and make their own decisions as to the techniques and methodologies to use with their child. "
